“Mock MATNESS” Deep Dive: 133 lbs.
This is where we take a closer look at individual weight classes. Using the most recent coaches poll, we can anticipate potential matchups. This in no way represents an accurate prediction of how the bracket will be seeded for this March. However, it’s part of the fun! The 133 lbs. Bracket is TOP HEAVY, but expect the unexpected!
1st Round: As the son of our HIgh School Wrestling Coach, Kurt Phipps automatically advances. Evan Frost beat down Brody Teske in the Cy-Hawk dual earlier this season 8-1 but Teske is on a final Senior run, will he exact his revenge?
Colaiocco edges Chlebove
Brown UPSETS albeit Minor Serrano
2nd Round: Nic Bouzakis with a FALL :53 in the 8/9 matchup! Dylan Ragusin holds on for an early round scare to advance to the Quarterfinals.
Bailey proves to be too much in a thriller over Latona
Vito, Fix, and Crookham easily hold serve.
Quarterfinals: Bouzakis goes for the big move on a couple occasion but Crookham’s toughness wins out. Orine in a bad style matchup still gets the OT takedown over Ragusin.
Vito looks SOLID in win over Bailey
Nagao rides out Fix in the 2nd but gets inside tripped late for a TD and (2) back points.
Semifinals:
Ryan Crookham slows down Orine
Daton Fix wins an all-time classic over Vitali Arujau
Finals:
After placing (2),(2),(4), in previous years, the self-proclaimed “Greatest Ever,” Daton “Ohio” Fix pulls it off and wins his National Championship in style. Stingy defense w/ the difference being a riding time point, Fix had to use mat awareness and saavhy tactics late to avoid a second stalling call.
